Topics include the origins and evolution of correctional programs that function outside of total institutions; contemporary community-based sanctions philosophy; current research and recent legal developments in the field; correctional theories and practices; the role of law enforcement; the courts and probation and parole officers in offender supervision; issues and challenges facing reintegration and rehabilitation efforts; and other community based initiatives for adult and juvenile offenders.
